1915-S Panama-Pacific Gold $2.50. NGC graded MS-66. CAC Approved. In an old holder. Well struck and frosty. A spectacular untoned example displaying luster that is so fresh it is as though it has fallen from the coining dies mere moments ago. For the $2.50 Pan-Pacific, the artist proposed an unusual motif of Columbia seated on a mythological hippocampus, half-horse, half-sea serpent. The eagle is rendered in a new, powerful way not seen before on an American production coin. It was modeled upon a similar design from one of the rare Pattern issues some years before. Pop 501; 114 finer in 67 .
