Great Britain. Undated (offical) Pattern Half Penny. BMC-404. Charles II, 1660-1685. Obverse: Bust of King left. Legend reads CAROLVS. A. CAROLO. Reverse: Britannia and legend QVATVOR. MARIA. VINDICO (I claim the four seas). It is difficult to pinpoint the date of this scarce pattern exactly, but it was probably around 1671. The first currency copper halfpenny made its debut in the following year 1672. NGC graded Proof 55 Brown.
