Lot 231

1807 C-1 R1 VG7. Double Struck over Obverse Brockage. Very slightly sharper but covered with light contact marks, including myriad faint hairline scratches on the portrait and a dull diagonal scratch through the C in CENT. Glossy chocolate and olive brown with peeps of lighter brown in protected areas on the reverse. Double struck over an obverse brockage. The obverse is over the normal side of the brockage strike but rotated 25 degrees. The result is two clear faces and busts for the lady. There are two dates as well, but the second one is less obvious. The second 18 is positioned on either side of the stronger 7, and the 7 of the second date is on the bust tip. The obverse brockage is positioned under the normal reverse and the strongest evidence of the incuse strike is from the bust lines below OF. The brockage came first, then the normal strike. LDS, Manley state 3.0. Davy #07.1.33.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
Ex John Hipps 7/30/94.
