Lot 2031

1907, $5 United States Note. "PCBLIC" Error. PCGS Currency Apparent Very Fine 25. . Fr-91. . KL-221. This engraving "error" is popular with collectors, as the part of the obligation on the back that reads "ALL DEBTS PUBLIC AND PRIVATE" has only a partial engraving line on the right side of the "U" in "PUBLIC" and the top is heavy enough that it looks like a "C" instead. The Apparent grade from PCGS Currency is due to a bank stamp on the back, a mark that research has shown was often affixed by European banks and is often seen on groups of large size currency that make their way back into the American collectible currency market from overseas.
Estimated Value $125 - 175.

Realized $127
