Lot 1687

1879 Morgan Dollar. PCGS graded Proof 64. Original even toning on both sides. 1,100 minted. Deep patina on each side points to long storage in an original tissue paper as received from the mint, with the hues deepest in color reserved for the peripheral areas. There is no hint of striking softness at the centers, a deficiency that sometimes shows up on Proof Morgans of this date; on the contrary this lovely 1879 Proof is sharp as a knife's edge on all the design features, an important advantage. Pop 83; 34 finer (PCGS # 7314) .
Estimated Value $2,500 - 2,600.
The Cypress Estate.

Realized $4,945
