Lot 1224

1853 N-6 R1 PCGS graded MS64 Brown. Very attractive lustrous olive and bluish steel with 20% of the mint red showing, mostly on the reverse. Great eye appeal, virtually flawless. The only notable marks are three very tiny ticks at the top of the ear, and they are barely visible with a glass. MDS, die state b. The lines from the dentils at star 2 are gone and the fields are covered with radial die flowlines. A beautiful cent. Our grade is MS63+, tied for CC#5 in the Grellman census. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 1; none finer at PCGS in BN.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
Ex Doug Bird 2/22/97.
