Lot 1217

1852 N-12 R1 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Repunched 1. Lustrous light olive brown and steel with subtle overtones of sea-green and light bluish steel. Hints of underlying very faded mint color bleed through on both sides. The only marks are a very light scuff in the field right of star 3, a couple light horizontal nicks near the dentil tips under the date, and the numerals "45" entered in dark chocolate ink under the EN in CENT. M-LDS, die state b late (Newcomb's old #13). The repunching on the 1 is gone, a dull die crack connects the bust tip to star 1, and the fields are covered with radial flowlines. Our grade is MS60. The attribution is noted on the PCGS label. Pop 1; 4 finer; 3 in 66BN; 1 in 67BN.
Estimated Value $300-UP.

Realized $345
