Lot 1186
1851/81 N-3 R1 Overdate 51 over 81 PCGS graded MS63 Brown. Lustrous steel and light olive brown with a couple very faint splashes of slightly darker toning in the field before the portrait. The only marks are a line of very light ticks on the chin and a tiny planchet flake in the field off the tip of the nose. MDS, die state b. The 51 over 81 overdate (actually 51 over inverted 18) is still visible but the die lines in the field around the date are gone. Our grade is MS60. The attribution and 51 over 81 feature are noted on the PCGS label. Pop 2; none finer at PCGS in BN.
