Lot 1013

1835 N-3 R3 Head of 1834 EF40. Five points sharper but there are a few light contact marks on the obverse, including a thin scrape in the field between star 4 and the nose. Otherwise the surfaces and eye appeal are very nice. Glossy chocolate brown with satiny mint frost showing through in the fields and protected areas, especially on the reverse. Possibly coated with a very thin layer of lacquer or some similar protectant. LDS showing a small but clear rim cud break in the dentils left of star 2 in addition to the earlier tiny ones under the date and star 13. An important example of this scarce die variety, in the lower half of the condition census.
Estimated Value $500-UP.

Realized $575
