1878 Liberty Seated Half Dollar. NGC graded Proof 66. Only 800 Proofs struck. A gorgeous Gem that has an exacting strike and blushes of light golden brown patina at the edge. The surfaces are virtually pristine. The cameo contrast is very pleasing. The popularity of the seated Liberty half dollar series rises to fever pitch in the higher-grade specimens, thus increasing the demand for Gem Proofs, which are nearly always more rare than the corresponding business strike issue.
