Great Britain. Loyalist Locket (1648). Charles I, 1625-1649. Silver. Heart shaped. 18.5 mm x 21.2 mm. Loop at top for suspension. This locket would have been worn by a Loyalist under there garment next to there heart. Outside covers engraved on both sides, "JANUARY 30 / 1648 / C (SKULL) R, backside engraved "I LIVE AND DY/ IN LOYALTYE arrows through a heart. Inside locket a small medallion portrait of Charles I on one side and engraved on the other side "PREPARED TO FOLLOW / C R / N. Made one year before Charles I beheading. One of a kind. Rare. Very Fine.
