Byzantine Empire. Justinian I, 527-565. Gold Solidus (4.41 g) minted at Constantinople. Bust three-quarter facing right, spear behind head. Reverse: Angel standing facing. D.O. 3a; S. 137. Perfectly struck on a huge flan with full legends. An absolute gem specimen. NGC graded Choice Mint State: Strike 5/5; Surface 5/5.
