Warhol, Andy (1928-1987) American artist; leading exponent of pop art. Book print of Mickey Mouse in 8 x 8 in. color form, signed by Warhol in the lower white border. Pristine condition. In 1981, Warhol strayed from his usual celebrity subject matter, such as Marilyn and Elvis, and decided to create a portfolio of ten screen prints, known as the Myth series, of fictional characters from old Hollywood movies and 1950s and 60s television shows. Mickey Mouse, as a huge icon of pop culture, was an integral part of this series.
