1848 N-21 R3-. AU-58. Very attractive lustrous light chocolate and steel brown. Virtually flawless except for a couple small spots of slightly darker reddish brown toning left of star 11. Just the slightest hint of rub on the highest points from mint state, and the eye appeal is certainly consistent with a mint state cent. M-LDS, die state d, with minor die crumbling on the reverse. Tied for CC#12 in the Grellman census.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
Ex J. R. Frankenfield, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/17/01:1478 (via Don Valenziano)-Phyllis Thompson.
