Lot 596

1847 N-38 R1. AU-58. A very attractive, lustrous cent with mint state eye appeal. Just a hint of friction on the highest points and a few microscopic contact marks, including a tiny pinprick under the earlobe and another near the dentils under star 4. Lustrous light chocolate and steel with traces of faded mint red showing on both sides. Sharply struck E-MDS, die state b, with faint waves at D and ST. The die lines at the inner curl are sharp. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS63 Brown (NGC label included).
Estimated Value $150-UP.
Obtained from an unrecorded source 1/1996 (FUN Show?) by Phyllis Thompson.

Realized $391
