Lot 562

1846 N-25 R5. Fine-15. Tall Date with Horizontal Line through Upright of 1. Close to VF20, especially on the reverse, but there are a few too many light contact marks on the obverse for the higher grade, mostly on the cheek under the eye. A shallow planchet flake hidden in the hair left of the top of the ear is a good identifying mark. Attractive glossy medium brown blending to chocolate brown in protected areas. Excellent eye appeal for the grade in spite of the minor contact marks. MDS, die state b, with crumbling in the dentils below the stem tip. Tied for CC#3 of this rare variety that seldom comes nice.
Estimated Value $100-UP.
Ex Doug Durasoff.
