Lot 556

1846 N-18 R1. MS-60. Very attractive and highly lustrous light olive and bluish steel brown with 10% of the mint red remaining, mostly on the reverse. A choice cent except for a few contact marks, including a short, dull scratch just right of the date, a dull contact mark on the eyebrow, and a very thin planchet fissure on the rim over star 5. None of these marks catches your eye and the satiny mint luster gives this cent excellent eye appeal. E-MDS, die state b, with a fine die crack through MER.
Estimated Value $200-UP.
Ex Henry T. Hettger, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 6/2000:367 (via Don Valenziano)-Phyllis Thompson.
