Lot 552

1846 N-10 R4. AU-50 Plus. Glossy olive and steel brown with lustrous light bluish steel toning covering the protected areas on both sides. Hints of underlying very faded mint color are bleeding through around the date. Excellent eye appeal with only a few minor marks, including a dull vertical nick in the center of the cheek. Nicely struck except for star 5, which is weakly impressed. Doubling is found on much of the reverse thanks to die bounce. E-MDS, die state a, before the rim cud forms on the obverse. Tied for CC#6.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
Ex Julian Leidman 10/94-Del Bland-Bob Vail, Superior 9/7/97:671-Jack Wadlington, McCawley & Grellman Auctions/Superior 2/8/99:2319-Phyllis Thompson.
