Lot 531

1845 N-4 R1. MS-60. Repunched 5. Frosty bluish steel and olive brown with generous traces of mint color remaining, mostly on the obverse. Nearly flawless, a tiny tick over star 3 and small planchet flakes on the rim at stars 8 & 11 are the only marks. This cent is close to choice except for minor strike weakness between the top of the ear and the Y in LIBERTY. MDS, die state c, with fine die cracks on the reverse. The repunching at the top of the 5 remains clear.
Estimated Value $300-UP.
Ex Doug Bird & Tom Reynolds 3/98-Phyllis Thompson.
