1798 S-161 R2. Fine-12. Style I Hair with Small 8. Sharpness VF25 but covered with very fine roughness and there are a couple small spots of shallow reddish brown verdigris on the obverse. Dark steel and olive with lighter chocolate toning on the highpoints. The obverse is a bit glossy while the reverse is closer to matte. Rare M-LDS, Breen state VIII, with an incomplete cud break over ATE. The sliver of die at the rim over TE is still attached creating small dentils at the top of the cud in that area. Only a few are known in this intermediate die state, a state that was missing from the Holmes collection.
