1875-S $20 Liberty. NGC graded MS-61. Light golden color with pinkish tint from the copper alloy. America's gold coins contain 90% gold and 10% copper (for wearability in circulation). This alloy sometimes lends a nice natural tint to the coin. 1875 was the year of the Specie Resumption Act, which led the country slowly back to a strict gold standard when the gold and currency markets returned to par against one another on January 1, 1879 (PCGS # 8975) .
Estimated Value $1,500 - 1,600.

Realized $1,840
