1866-S $20 Liberty. With motto. PCGS graded VF-35. Toned. Some obverse scratches from its years as a circulating medium. Double eagles were struck every year from 1850 to 1907 with no lapses, even when, as in 1861-1879, the country had partly abandoned a gold standard due to problems with the greenback Legal Tender notes which traded at a discount to gold (PCGS # 8950) .
