Lot 1283

1884-S Morgan Dollar. ANACS graded MS-60. A nice strike and mostly untoned. One slight diagonal line across the lower breast on the eagle. The 1884-S is an example where most of the issue reached the channels of commerce at the time of issue. The San Francisco Mint delivered over 3 million Morgan dollars in 1884. It seems that few of them avoided the rigors of circulation. Today, Brilliant Uncirculated pieces are rarely seen, seldom offered, and locating a true Uncirculated specimen in MS60 grade is one of the tasks facing the Morgan dollar specialist. This attractive representative is almost entirely brilliant with splashes of varying mint frost in select peripheral areas as well as on all the devices. Sharply defined throughout, and free of all but a few minor distracting marks (PCGS # 7156) .
Estimated Value $3,800 - 3,900.

Realized $4,140
