Charles VI - Holy Roman Emperor. Printed Document Signed "Carl" as the Holy Roman Emperor, etc. etc., 7pp, in German, Vienna, March 18, 1719. Regulating trade and commerce in ports on the Adriatic Sea, and declaring Fiume and Trieste as free ports. His hope was that these two Habsburg cities under his control could compete with Venice for Adriatic trade. The document is very attrractive, with decorative woodcut and script at top of first page.
