Pamphlet: A Prospective-Plan of the Battle near Lake George, on the Eighth Day of September, 1755. With An Explanation thereof; Containing A full tho' short, History of that important Affair By Samuel Blodget. Boston: Printed by Richard Draper, for the Author, 1755. 5 pp, plus title page with Advertisement by Blodget on verso; title page and page 5 separated; small paper loss at top of title page and several edge chips and small edge tears. Page 5 has gift plate to the New England Historic Geneaogical Society affixed to left margin; title page has embossed stamp of the Society. Blodget, who was present at the battle of Lake George in 1755 prepared a drawing and had Thomas Johnston engrave the scene for publication. These are the notes which went with the map, which was probably inserted between the first two pages of the pamphlet, and which Blodget sold at his store in Boston. The engraving was the first produced in the colonies that illustrated an American battle plan. Rare.
