Lot 227

Well-Equipped Edison Home Phonograph, Plus "Records". United States, c. 1907. A nice Edison Home Phonograph; perhaps an early version of Model B. The last patent date listed is 1898, and the serial number, H75923. The device appears complete, and is in good working order; the playback Reproducer is Model C. The oak case has the original decal in red and gold, is well preserved, and there is a handle on top of the lid for carrying. The oak case's original varnish does not appear to have been tampered with. Phonograph overall in good condition both mechanically and cosmetically, with some moderate wear and flaking to the the enamel paint. Machine comes with crank, straight-sided small trumpet shaped horn, plus a grand-size "flower" horn and chromed rod support. Along with these are many, many cylindrical records (probably close to 125 of mostly four-minute cylinders). Rounding out offering: a page from the magazine, The Youth's Companion, April 22, 1909, with an Edsion ad for this record player. A great lot for the collector of antique record players.

Size: 16-1/2" x 8" x 11-1/2". Please note, due to weight, size, and quantity of items with this lot, shipping will be around $165.00 within the U.S.A.
Estimated Value $800 - 1,000.
