Ray, James Earl & John Hinckley, Jr. James Earl Ray (1928-1998) Convicted assassin of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; the assassination took place on April 4, 1968, in Memphis, Tennessee. Signature on a 2 x 3½ in. card; with a card signed by the Brushy Mountain Prison warden, Clinton T. Duffy (on his business card), and the envelope from the prison postmarked Mar. 9, 1979, as well as the letter from Harry Sparks requesting the autograph.

John Hinckley, Jr. (1955 -) Signature on a 2½ x 3½ in. card with the date "1987"; on March 30, 198, Hinckley attempted to assassinate President Reagan in order to impress actress Jody Foster. He was found guilty by reason of insanity.
