Egyptian light green glaze amulet of a Female Dancer. Circa 18th Dynasty to Late Dynastic Period. Fine pale green faience amulet of a female dancer bending backwards with hair falling; suspension hole in center. Very Rare. Well intact. Height: 2¼".

Babacar Khane and his wife, the egyptologist Genevieve Lebaud-Khane, graduate of the University of Montpellier, found in several Egyptian temples, graves and museums many representations of classical lhatha-yoga postures, very well-known and practised in India, for example: several women practising Urdhva-Ddhanurasana and Chakrasana (Red Chapel build by Hatshepsut in Karnak temple complex; reliefs depicting the Opet Festival, Luxor Temple, reigns of Kings Tutankhamun and Ay, New-Kingdom).

Acquired from Emile Saad of Alexandria in the 1970s.
