Byzantine Empire. Justinian I, 527-565. follis or 40 nummi (21.45g), Antioch, 5th officina, 542/3 (regnal year 16). Helmeted bust facing, holding gl. cr. and shield. Rev. Large M between ANNO and XUI, ?HEUPO in ex., star in r. field. DOC 216 var. (this officina not recorded); MIB 144b; Sear 219.

This issue was cut short by the onset of the Great Plague which resulted in the cessation of issues at Antioch until regnal year 20. Very Fine with dark patina and rare.
