Lot 1921

1854 Dollar Octagonal Liberty. Breen and Gillio-510. Low Rarity 5. PCGS graded MS-64. Maker: Frontier, Deviercy & Co. The obverse, same as BG-505, here repolished again. The reverse is similar to BG-509, but there is a large period after CALIFORNIA and GOLD; FD central below beaded circle; solitary five-pointed star between CALIFORNIA and GOLD. Fabulous eye appeal! Majestic golden sunset hues blanket both sides of this near gem beautifully. The surfaces exhibit a degree of reflectivity, particularly the obverse. Pop 4; none finer at PCGS (PCGS # 10487) .
Estimated Value $2,300 - 2,400.
The Tom Kelly Collection.
