1883 Hawaiian Dollar. PCGS graded AU-55. Old green holder. Mostly untoned with a hint of light gold tone here and there. The surfaces are semi reflective and as such provide a splendid offset for the raised, lightly frosted profile of the King. Kalakaua I (named David Kalakaua) reigned from 1874 to 1891. An early Edison cylinder roll recording of his voice taken shortly before he died is housed in the Hawaii State Archives in Honolulu though has yet to be given a public playing so far as this cataloger knows.
