USAF, P-4A Jet Helmet. This classic helmet was introduced in the mid 1950s for use in fighter and bomber aircraft. It was declared obsolete in 1964. The helmets were issued with external visors that used a center locking track. Although missing its oxygen mask and most of its hardware, this helmet does have a clear USAF Insignia on the interior suspension system. This helmet shows the ravages of time but, with the exception of deterioration of the leather edging around the helmet edges, it is a great representative example of this early helmet.
