1841 Proof Original Breen 1-A R6. NGC graded Proof 66 Brown. Very attractive chocolate brown with traces of original mint red in protected areas on the reverse and bluish steel overtones covering the fields on both sides. The fields and highly reflective and offer outstanding eye appeal. The only marks are a collection of tiny golden flakes in the planchet near the dentils right of the date with additional similar golden planchet flakes over the H in HALF and at the dentils on either side of OF (all as struck). Sharply struck Breen state III, the usual die state with a very fine die crack passing through stars 3-6 to the dentils at stars 2 & 7. A beautiful original proof strike (although the NGC slab label incorrectly indicates this piece is a "Restrike"). Our grade is Proof-64+, close to Proof-65 gem.
