Lot 644

1814 S-295 R1. EF-45. Turban Head. Plain 4. Five points sharper with a few too many light contact marks for the higher grade, including a dull scratch just right of the reverse center dot down to between the E & N in CENT. The planchet quality is excellent, free of any trace of roughness or verdigris. The obverse is frosty steel and olive brown delicately mottled with medium brown. The reverse is a more uniform frosty light to medium brown with slightly darker steel brown toning in the highpoints. Great luster and eye appeal for the grade. LDS, Breen state XIII, showing a clear rim cud break over the D in UNITED and an obvious beard on Ms Liberty. Removed from an NGC slab graded MS61BN (NGC label included, and it shows the attribution).
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.
Ex Fred H. Borcherdt 4/06.

Realized $2,990
