Lot 630

1811 S-287 R2. PCGS graded AU-55. Turban Head. Lustrous chocolate brown with hints of reddish chocolate toning on both sides and frosty lighter brown and tan in protected areas, especially on the reverse. No corrosion, but there are microscopic specks of dark olive brown crud or verdigris in some of the protected areas, none visible without a good glass. The only contact mark, and it can help identify this cent, is a small vertical nick in the middle of the diagonal of the N in CENT. LDS, Breen state VI. The fields are flowlined on both sides and the upper and lower outer points of stars 8-13 are bent toward the rim. Previously removed from a PCGS slab graded AU58 (PCGS label included). Our grade is AU50. The attribution and Wells provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.
Ex Delaware Valley Rare Coins 5/07.

Realized $4,888
