Lot 593
1799 S-189 R2. VG-10. Slightly sharper with a dull, shallow dent at the base of the U in UNITED that causes minor swelling at the base of the B in LIBERTY. An old, dull scratch up from the O in ONE is the only other notable mark. No corrosion or verdigris. The surfaces are decent and offer nice eye appeal, but a strong glass reveals extremely faint roughness under the rather glossy olive and chocolate brown patina. LDS, Breen state V late. A fine but clear die crack extends along the upper edge of the bust into the field at right. The date is strong and the legends are clear. A nicely detailed 1799 cent in a rare die state.
