1798 S-155 R3. PCGS graded AU-53. Style I Hair with Small 8. Reverse of 1796. Glossy steel brown and chocolate with frosty tan covering the protected areas on both sides. A choice example showing only a few trivial marks, including a small nick hidden in the hair left of the throat, another faint one in the center of the neck, and a short hairline scratch low on the neck. M-LDS, Breen state IV late. Called VF35 and tied for CC#7 among the confirmed examples in the Bland census. Noyes says EF40 net VF35 and tied for CC#7, his photo #34298. Our grade is VF35 choice. The attribution and Wells provenance are noted on the PCGS label. Comes with an impressive provenance.
