Lot 559

1795 S-76b R1. EF-40. Plain Edge. Choice glossy chocolate and steel brown with frosty lighter brown toning covering the protected areas on both sides. No hint of roughness or verdigris, only a couple microscopic contact marks from flawless. A tiny vertical hairline scratch between the tops of the E & S in STATES is the best identifying mark, but you can't see it without a good glass. EDS, Breen state III, before any swelling in the field before the portrait. The die clashmarks are clear on both sides. A choice example in every respect.
Estimated Value $3,000 - 4,000.
