Lot 538

1794 S-60 R3. VF-35. Five points sharper with a few too many nicks for the sharpness grade. Glossy chocolate and steel brown with smooth, attractive surfaces that offer excellent eye appeal. The notable marks are a pair of sharp nicks on the lower part of the neck, a light rim bruise under the bust tip, a trio of small nicks over CE in CENT, and a collection of microscopic planchet chips (as struck) in the field before the face. M-LDS, Breen state IV, with clear die clashmarks on both sides and a die crack up from the dentils left of the date to the curl above. Called VF35 and tied for CC#6 in the Bland census. Noyes says EF40 net VF30. Comes with a long, impressive provenance.
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.
