Lot 531

1794 S-52 R6-. Good-6. The obverse is a bit better than the reverse, as usual for worn examples of this variety. The overall sharpness is better than G6 but the planchet is covered with very fine granularity that's partially hidden under a slightly glossy chocolate and darker olive brown patina. No verdigris, only a few rim bruises around the obverse and a dull rim nick at TE in UNITED. The date is complete and clear and the legends are full except for weakness at TES-OF. EDS, Breen state I, before the obverse die cracked. A decent example of this rare variety in spite of the imperfect surfaces.
Estimated Value $1,500 - 2,000.
Ex Dr. Charles L. Ruby, Superior 2/11/74:381-Del Bland 1/81-Fred H. Borcherdt 3/95.
