Lot 530

1794 S-51 R5-. Fine-12. Sharpness VF25 but there is a dull vertical dent down between the B & E in LIBERTY and a patch of pitting surrounding the T in CENT. The remainder of the planchet is relatively smooth, but a glass reveals traces of very fine roughness elsewhere in the fields and protected areas. Specks of emerald-green verdigris can be found in some of the pitmarks on the reverse. A few old hairline scratches on the lower left of the obverse round out the notable defects. The good news is that the eye appeal is decent in spite of the obvious defects. Mostly glossy olive and chocolate brown with lighter chocolate toning on the highpoints. The date and legends are complete and strong. EDS, Breen state I, before any obverse die cracks.
Estimated Value $1,000 - 1,500.
Ex Chris McCawley 1/8/08.

Realized $1,006
