Lot 389

1837 N-11 R1 PCGS graded MS66RB. PCGS graded MS-66 Red & Brown. Beaded Hair Cord, Head of 1838. Lustrous mint red and light olive with overtones of light bluish steel, about a third of the mint color remaining, mostly on the reverse. Virtually flawless in every respect. The best identifying mark is a small spot of darker toning over the left side of the O in OF. Sharply struck MDS with fine die flowlines covering the obverse fields and the usual die cracks on the reverse, but the two small rim cuds at S-O have not formed. The extra points on star 10 are sharp. Called MS65 and tied for CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #21874. Bland says MS65 and tied for CC#5. Our grade is MS65+. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $4,000-UP.
