Lot 386

1837 N-10 R1 PCGS graded MS66BN. PCGS graded MS-66 Brown. Beaded Hair Cord, Head of 1838. "Accessory N" variety. The obverse is a highly lustrous and very attractive lustrous steel tan and light brown with bluish steel overtones in the protected areas. The reverse is highly lustrous light olive brown and steel with slightly faded mint red covering the protected areas, about 20% of the surface displaying original red. This cent is close to flawless, just a couple microscopic ticks on the cheek and neck and a tiny splash of slightly darker brown toning under star 7. MDS with a clear rim cud break from just left of the date almost to star 1 and another under the 37 extending slightly beyond on both sides. The "Accessory N" punched into the leaves under the N in UNITED is clear. Called MS65 and tied for CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes graded MS60 net AU50 (another example of why grading from photos is highly risky), his photo #20845. Our grade is MS65. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $1,500-UP.
