1837 N-9 R1 PCGS graded MS65BN. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown. Beaded Hair Cord, Head of 1838. Very attractive lustrous bluish steel and light olive with traces of faded mint red on both sides. Great eye appeal, but a glass reveals a faint scuff at the bust tip to star 1 and another in the field right of star 4, plus a small nick on the tip of the chin and another in the dentils over the second S in STATES. MDS with the same die cracks as the preceding example plus a faint crack passing through star 6 to the dentils at either side. Called MS60 net AU55 in the Noyes census, his photo #21602. Our grade is MS60+. PCGS Population 3; 3 finer in 66BN.
