1837 N-9 R1 PCGS graded AU58. PCGS graded AU-58. Beaded Hair Cord, Head of 1838. Glossy light olive with sea green overtones on the reverse. No defects, only a few trivial contact marks consistent with the grade. EDS with a die crack from the bust tip up through the R in LIBERTY to the top of the head under star 8 (this crack is present on the earliest known die state). The reverse is uncracked. A scarce early state of these dies, and this was the best one Ted could obtain. Called AU50 in the Noyes census, his photo #35885. Our grade is EF40. PCGS Population 1; 7 finer, 1 in 64BN, 3 in 65BN, 3 in 66BN.
