Lot 366

1837 N-3 R3 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Plain Hair Cord with Medium Letters. Lustrous mint red fading to bluish steel brown on the highpoints, about two-thirds of the faded mint color remaining. Very attractive with nearly flawless surfaces. The only marks, and they are barely visible and certainly do not catch the eye, are a tiny planchet chip on the lower edge of the tip of the chin, a small spot of darker toning at the dentils over star 5, and a tiny tick on the left end of the right top of the N in ONE. MDS. The fields are covered with very fine radial die flowlines but the irregular die scratch from the left end of the line under CENT is still clear. This cent is plated in the Newcomb book on the cents of 1816-1857. Called MS63 and tied for CC#6 in the Noyes and Bland census lists, Noyes photo #33827. Our grade is MS65. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
Estimated Value $1,000-UP.
