Lot 365

1837 N-3 R3 MS64. MS-64. Plain Hair Cord with Medium Letters. Lustrous light olive and sea green, an attractive so-called "Greenie". The surfaces are satiny and nearly free of defects. A very tiny speck of dark toning left of star 6 is the only mark visible without the aid of a strong glass. Sharply struck EDS. The die scratch from the left end of the line below CENT is sharp and the field in that area shows fine die polishing lines. Called MS65 and tied for CC#4 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS63 and tied for CC#6, his photo #20842.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
Ex Al Overton 1971-Del Bland-C. Douglas Smith-Dr. Robert J. Shalowitz-C. Douglas Smith 1987-Herman Halpern, Stack's 3/16/88:475 (via Tony Terranova 3/18/88).
