1836 N-5 R3 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Upset Reverse. Lustrous steel brown and light chocolate with 25% of the mint color remaining, mostly on the reverse. Just a few trivial marks on otherwise flawless surfaces. The marks are a nick-like planchet pre-striking planchet mark on the jaw above the throat, a tiny planchet chip over the right side of the N in ONE (as struck), and a faint trail of microscopic ticks skipping down from the E in CENT to the top of the ribbon below. LDS with the additional die crack up from the bottom of the reverse through the ribbon arcing to CE in CENT. In addition, the reverse is rotated 170 degrees CW, nearly upset head-to-head rather than the usual head-to-foot. Called MS65 and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #20944. Bland says MS63 and CC#1 among the confirmed examples. Our grade is MS64. PCGS Population 1; none finer.
