Lot 350

1836 N-2 R2 PCGS graded MS64BN. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Lustrous light olive and chocolate brown with darker olive toning in the most-protected areas of the obverse. The surfaces are satiny and nearly void of marks, although there are a few specks of carbon around the C in AMERICA. However, there are traces of lacquer or some similar coating on the obverse plus a small splash of the same stuff at the bottom of the reverse. I assume this stuff is removable and that the eye appeal would improve if the removal was accomplished, but you can't be sure without trying. LDS. The die crack through the second S in STATES is clear and the dies show lower relief thanks to lapping to remove roughness. Called MS60 and tied for CC#8 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 net AU55 and tied for CC#14, his photo #27175. Our grade is MS60. PCGS Population 3; 1 finer in 65BN.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
