1836 N-2 R2 PCGS graded MS64BN. PCGS graded MS-64 Brown. Frosty bluish steel brown and olive with faint hints of underlying faded mint color showing through in the obverse fields. No spots or stains, only a few microscopic marks. A tiny horizontal nick left of star 3 and a microscopic planchet chip in the field left of star 8 are good identifying marks. M-LDS with all the die cracks mentioned by Wright present, including the final one down through the left side of the second S in STATES. The diagonal dash from the right end of the base of the T in CENT is strong. (In the latest state, the reverse shows the effects of lapping which reduces the flowline roughness and leaves the legends in shallower relief.) Called MS65 choice and CC#1 in the Noyes census, his photo #35877. Our grade is MS62+, close to MS63. PCGS Population 3; 1 finer in 65BN.
Estimated Value $500-UP.
